FISH XIX... FISH nineteen!! FISH... The Forum for Indiana Studies in Healthcare. Angling Destinations has been working with FISH for 16 of those 19 years!! Over those years we have traveled to many exotic destinations including Belize, Montana, Canada, Wyoming and the Bahamas. All our trips have been great fun and we have sampled some of the best fishing, both in freshwater and the salt, that the world has to offer.
This year, we decided to revisit the site of FISH IV at Sandy Point on Great Abaco Island. Last Spring, we contacted Monique and Ricardo Burrows and booked all eleven rooms at their Rickmon Bonefish Lodge. We couldn’t have made a better choice or had a better time! Our weather was terrific with lots of sun and moderate winds. Almost all of us got to visit Mores Island at least once, and all of us got to fish the massive areas surrounding the village including Gorda Cay, the southern marls and the magnificent flats south of the village at Blackwood Creek, Scaffold Creek and Hole-in-the-Wall. Our guides did a terrific job and many thanks to Ricardo, Patrick, Foots, Kendall, Alvin, Carl, Perry, Wally and Curt. These guides all were great fun to be with, worked hard and consistently put us on fish for all three days of FISH XIX.
The staff at Rickmon including Monique, Candace and Kim were wonderful. They took great care of us and served us delicious meals. It was wonderful to see the members of FISH once again. Some of these folks I have now fished with for over a decade and a half! Whew!
I will remember FISH XIX for many things including watching Jim Snyder get his first bonefish ever, the massive Seychelles-like migration of bonefish, sharks and ‘cudas on a rising tide at Blackwood Creek and being surrounded one afternoon by tailing fish at Top Cay. But most of all, I’ll remember the time we had, how great it was to see everyone and the fun of the daily FISH report each evening during dessert (on each boats success or lack thereof). This was always the highlight of the day!
And many thanks to Terry Heath, our fearless leader, for yet another great FISH!!
