The fishing on Bahamas’ Acklins Island is a dream come true, especially for the angler that loves to wade. The flats are expansive, varied and prolific. Many, if not most, of the flats are hard-packed sand, crushed coral or solid marl. Mangrove flats, dazzling white beach flats, grassy bays and, extensive creeks create a spider web of perfect bonefish habitat. Not only are there huge populations of bonefish that ply these waters, Acklins also offers a respectable permit fishery. Certainly good enough you’ll want a rod rigged and ready.

Bain’s (named after the owner) Top Choice Bonefish Lodge hosts six anglers who want to fish the most remote areas of Acklins Island including Snug Corner, Fish Cays, and the Jamaica Cay area. Bain’s offers a very comfortable and friendly environment. The lodge serves delicious Bahamian food including lobster pasta and baked grouper. The rooms are large with quiet a/c units, mini-fridges and are serviced daily. Located on a beautiful white sand beach, the back porch is the perfect place to have a cocktail while you watch the sun sink in the west.

Many, if not most, of the cold fronts that affect the more northerly islands of Abaco, Andros and Grand Bahama don’t reach Acklins so the island can often be visited in the winter when wind and cold fronts plague the northern Islands. And, of course, the traditional months in the fall and spring offer excellent fly-angling opportunities.

Aside from traditional flats boats, Bain's has two 30' blue water boats (added fuel surcharge) for those that desire deep sea fishing or desire to access other remote fisheries.

Perhaps the best news about Top Choice is the price. $2,995.00 per person, for a week of remote un-pressured bone-fishing Bain’s is THE best deal in any flats-fishing offering in the Bahamas, if not the world. Excellent wade fishing, good food, comfortable rooms, hard-working guides, and a great price...now that’s worth experiencing!
