Zapatas is a very unique location amongst all the Cuban locations. It only allows for a small number of anglers, which protects the vast wetland shoreline. The Cuban government submitted to UNESCO in 2003 for the Ciénaga de Zapata to be declared a World Heritage Site. All the water surrounding this site will be your fishing zone for the week. Marine life and the quality of the fisheries are very important to the Cuban government. The angling pressure is managed quite well and it shows when exploring its vast flats.
